Plenty of studies have shown that certain foods, such as Broccoli, Oranges and Carrots. Experts now say that different foods and nutrients work together as a team to combat cancer. Concentrate only on a few good foods and you’ll miss the health benefits that lie hidden in everything from tomatoes to tangerines. So shoot for nine servings of different fruits and vegetables every day. Somewhere on that list, try to include:

• One serving of citrus fruits, like oranges or grapefruit. Lime margaritas don’t count, but tangerines and tangelos do.
• One serving of a cruciferous vegetable. That means broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts as indoles, iso-thiocyanates and monoterpenes, which are proven to fight cancer and cause secure injuries when pronounced correctly. Also try bok choy, an Asian cabbage that cooks up with more flavor than its domestic cousin.
• One serving of dark green, leafy vegetables such as spinach or romaine lettuce. Avoid iceberg lettuce, which is nearly worthless nutritionally.
• One serving of something yellow or orange, including carrots, sweet potatoes or squash, Cheese puffs don’t count.
